Welcome! I hope you'll take some time to browse in addition to entering the giveaway, and feel free to follow me if you like what you see!
I've finished about a dozen quilts this year, I make felt food for my son's kitchen every Friday, I'm doing a Swoon quilt with three different block sizes, and I'm in the process of moving my sewing room.
While moving the sewing room, I sorted through fabrics and found these two panels.
{Frolic by Sandy Gervais and Love U by Deb Strain}
One was supposed to be the back of my niece's quilt...but I ran out of time to piece it. The other, I have two because I really thought my cousin would have twin girls...but she had boys.
My loss, your gain!
To enter, leave a comment about panels. Do you like them? Do you use them in the front or back of a quilt? Do you leave them as is, or cut them apart and rearrange?
{As usual, if you're a no-reply blogger, make sure you leave an email.}
Mr. Random Generator will pick a winner at 5 p.m. PST on 12/16.
I've never used a panel!! Thanks for the giveaway though. That owl panel is super adorable!
ReplyDeletewow! I would love to use them for my daughter's quilts! I will make them as the center, and do a patchwork on the back so that the quilts are reversible!
ReplyDeletelovely giveaway, thanks for a chance to win this!
i just bought my first panel so I'm really unfamiliar with them, but they seem like something that if like!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute panels! I have bought a couple of panels because they hold so much promise, but I still haven't found time to use them yet. :)

Panels can be challenging to work with but I love em anyway! Just starch the heck out of em and cut carefully. They make quick baby quilts for sure. Love your panels!
ReplyDeleteLove the panels. I've never used one, but would probably fussy-cut one for a GREAT tote bag!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
I LOVE panels! I use them for the front of a lot of quilts. I have used the owl one for a baby quilt and just fell in love with it. I have a charm pack of the Love U fabric that would make a great baby gift.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!
I'm a panel cheater. I cut them apart and piece them together a little differently. Using the whole panel as is makes me feel like a quilter cheater.
ReplyDeleteI've never used them! But I would like to. These are super cute!
ReplyDeleteI have never used a panel. Looking at them, I would cut apart the first and leave the 2nd as is :)
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Desi

I haven't really used any panels yet. I guess it would depend on the panel.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are sweet! I actually am just starting to quilt, so no, I have never used panels. but my church is starting a quilting ministry and I'd love to try one out (the gals at the church can be my "training wheels" so to speak, so I don't screw it up!) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI used a panel with letters for a quilt for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love panels, but I like to use them for project other than quilts....pillows, matching games for kids, soft blocks and such.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! You're most welcome to stop by and enter my giveaways as well! :)
They are so lovely! I think the first two I would make into quilts for the hospital auxiliary (as is), but the I love you quilt would be wonderful in my son's room. I would take apart the letters to make an alphabet banner and then the center I would do as a body pillow (floor pillow). What a great give away!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never used one & am curious to see the ideas people comment about!
ReplyDeleteLove the second panel. I've only used a panel once and I left it whole on the front of a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win.
I've never sewn with panels but have seen many that are quite pretty that I would like to use. I like both panels.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a panel but I am sure if I win I will find something to do with them, a new challenge for the new year
ReplyDeleteI like panels! I usually cut them apart and use them front and back!!
ReplyDeleteI like them. I would use them whole on the front of a quilt. why destroy something that is already good?
ReplyDeleteI use them and depending on what I'm making will either keep it as is or cut it apart.
ReplyDeleteCute panels! I like to cut them up when I use them. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI never try to use panel before. I think will save time if used panel for quilting.
ReplyDeleteThx for the chance to win ^^v
Tha panels are beautiful, I would try to make a quilt out of them!
ReplyDeleteI love them! I think I would use them as the front of the quilt, and stitch it to look like it was pieced.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is this Saturday, and this would be a wonderful birthday present!
I've always been scared of them because I don't know how to use them. I'd love to learn, though.

The owl one I would quilt and hang in my kids' room. I've got a thing for owls! The alphabet one I would quilt and give to a friend for her baby's room. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI like panels and it is a great way to practice free motion.
ReplyDeleteThese would be great for a child's charity quilt with the fun and happy designs.
Debbie
I've only used a panel once, and really liked using it. I did cut some portions of it off and repositioned them.
ReplyDeletei'd leave the love you and put block it and hang it in my son's room!
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway!
I have never used a fabric panel before. I think they would be fun to play with though! Thanks for the chance to win. :)
ReplyDeleteThe owl panel I would take apart. I'd use the center piece as a wall hanging and the side pieces to embellish pillow cases. Very fun.
ReplyDeleteThe panels would make quick charity quilts and I try to giveaway anything I get free.
ReplyDeleteI am new to this quilting game (in the process of my first quilt) so I haven't had a go at panels yet but these look just lovely and would make great "first big girl bed" quilts for my daughter in a few months time. Something beautiful and special but tough enough for every day use with a toddler. I would just piece a border in co-ordinating fabrics and back it and bind it up.
ReplyDeleteLove panels. I usually rearrange but depends on how large i need to make the quilt. Thank you for this give away.
ReplyDeleteskowens (at) sbcglobal (dot) net
I like panels. I use them for the center or for a backing. I often rearrange them and add things to them. Helps make a quick and easy quilt.
ReplyDeleteramona_murray(at)comcast(dot)net

ReplyDeleteI like panels for pillows or quick wall hangings :)
ReplyDeleteSusanne
I love panels I think they can make a lovely quilt. I have used some beautiful ones in baby quilts.
ReplyDeleteWendy
I have a love/hate relationship with panels. I love them, I think they are amazing and cute and so great but I hate them because they are so rarely printed straight on the fabric and they are a pain to use in a big quilt.
ReplyDeleteBut I would love these as they are so cute and I would love to use them for my little girl on her big bed next year.
I've never used one before. The owl is very cute.
ReplyDeleteI have a panel and have debated on what to do with it. To leave as is seems boring but to cut up seems labor-some. I just don't know. I am thinking they would make cute last minute gifts if I did some quilting on them. Maybe I will play with it and see what I come up with. Thanks for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI have used them in both. Our guild makes some darling quick quilts with panels to donate to needy groups.
ReplyDeleteI have a Christmas panel & haven't figured out how to use it yet, so I don't know ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't really used panels before. But I found some panels on sale that I bought a few months ago, and I am planning on using them on a front of a quilt. I never thought of using them on the back! Thanks for the giveaway! robyn(dot)geddes(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love them. I make cheat quilts out of them when I need a quick gift. I have also been known to fussy cut them for patchwork projects.
ReplyDeleteI have used several panels before. I usually leave them as they are and add patchwork or borders in coordinating fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI've never used a panel, but think that if I had one I would leave it as is and then embellish around it.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a panel either. The store I shop at usually has very tacky panels of horses running through fields and such. But that owl is adorable! I would use the owl part and then cut the squares off and use them on the reverse.
ReplyDeleteI've never used a panel before, those are both really cute though and my little sister is expecting so I know who I'd use it for if I won! Thanks for the chance to win!

I think they are an interesting challenge and I have nephews and nieces needing quilts so it would be fun to make the most of these fabulous fabric panels..great jump off points really and I would have to put my own bent on them and cut and arrange them..wouldn't I have fun!!!!..thank-you:)
ReplyDeletePanels are a quick way to make a cute blanket, without all the piecing. I use them on the front.
ReplyDeleteI started out with panels and loved them, now when I have one I cut it apart and make it my own. They are a great way to make a quick quilt or practice free motion quilting. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI would love to start using panels. I think that they are intimidating. I am always scared that trying to put panel blocks in a quilt would throw the design off. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI like panels. Makes the back of a quilt easier.
ReplyDelete:)
I have never used a panel before, because I am just starting, but would love to try and work with one
ReplyDeleteOH! Panels. LOVE them...and I usually cut them up and try to incorporate all the pieces back into one large quilt. Thanks so much for the awesome opportunity!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try a panel. That owl is Adorable !
ReplyDeleteI used an ABC panel one time for a quilt for my niece. I liked it because it was super fast and easy, and turned out so fun for her.
ReplyDeleteI've never used a panel either, but these are so sweet. I don't think I could bring myself to cut into them!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win, such a beautiful giveaway.
stitchandpurl(at)btinternet(dot)com
I usually cut them up and use other fabrics to enhance them.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a panel, except ones intended to make cloth books (which is what I used them for). I would love to try!
ReplyDeletebeth(dot)sebastian(at)gmail(dot)com
Would frame them as much needed warmth for our white walls! roguekeri at live dot com
ReplyDeleteI have not used any panels so far... but I think they are gorgeous and would make an easy way to make something bigger ... like a big pillow. I think I could not use them for the bakc of a quilt as they are too pretty for that. But for the front - why not! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun giveaway! Gorgeous fabric!

My mom loves using panels. I have seen some great ones that are used as the middle with pieces around the sides. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI do like to use panels occasionally. Some of them are just so cute and they are quick to make a little wall hanging when you want something in a hurry. I use them for the front but your idea of using them on the back is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI've not used panels much, but I think I'd use them as a center and then put other designs around. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletewinterwrens at gmail dot com
I've never used one, but I'd love to play!
ReplyDeleteI like using panels. I usually cut apart and mix other things in & use for the front. Never really thought about it for the back, but I like the idea!
ReplyDeleteIve never used a panel. I love the owl one, I would cut it apart :)
ReplyDeleteI've never used a panel. LOVE the owl one. How cute. My instinct would be to cut it up and use it in a patchwork project, but I might have to reconsider because it's so great on it's own.
ReplyDeleteA panel is a godsend for me who can never piece a quilt top straight!
ReplyDeleteI like them sometimes. I've mostly used them for either quick baby quilts or quilt backs.
ReplyDeleteI like panels - i usually cut them up though and sew back together! :) thanks for the nice giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI cut up my panels and sew them into the quilt top~
ReplyDeleteLOVE them! And I usually cut them up and rearrange :)
ReplyDeleteourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
I have never really used panels before, but I would like to make wall hangings with those should I win.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from England!
Panels are quick, cute and warm. Not a technically amazing quilt but for a little one they are super. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI use panels to practice my hand quilting. It also makes my "bad" stitches less noticeable :) I love the alphabet panel :)
ReplyDeleteLove the secund!!!
ReplyDeleteI like to cut them up and create something big like a quilt!
