Some Little Finishes

I just spent a couple days in Seattle with the boys, celebrating my birthday, where I learned that the Dude is now dangerous in quilt stores. He no longer complains about being there. No, he's in the shelves, picking fabric, and confidently ordering a quarter yard and three quarter yard.

Yup, he's addicted to pillowcases. This is Robert Kaufman's The Last Frontier and Stargazers. And I don't want fabric marinating in the sewing room anymore, so I whipped them together this morning.

I also made a stack of burp clothes for my sister - Army ones for her husband...

...and UConn ones for her!

And the last of the small finishes - I pulled this out of the "quilted" pile, put an envelope style back on it, and declared it done. The quilt {Sunkissed Jewel Box} was finished in 2013 - these were the four blocks that didn't make it in. They make a great little pillow, even though I don't think I planned to save two greens and two greys.

The backing is a bit more Sunkissed by Sweetwater, and I did just so happen to cut the pieces of a churn dash before putting the rest in the green bin.

Random Sewing, Random Running

Sewing
Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day is coming! Lucky you - I'm cleaning up my sewing shelves and there will be something good.

I spent a little time this week making burp rags. They'll be listed on my Facebook page because I'm too lazy to deal with Etsy right now. Of course, OSU went and lost the Bedlam game, so I need to get moving on the OU ones.

My sister knit these for me. No, I don't know the pattern or the yarn shop {sister may need to comment!} - but I do know these are Wash socks. Not only that - they are "Curse your sudden yet inevitable betrayal!" Wash socks. Which is one of my all-time favorite show quotes EVER.

Which actually leads right into...

Running

...because I have been known to yell "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar!" during races.

Immediately after I finished the Route 66 Half, I sent a nasty text about the thought of a full to my running buddy. And I do mean immediately after, as I sat in the med tent with a bag of ice on my leg, as the nurse yelled at me for texting instead of holding the bag of ice.

Apparently I've forgotten all about that in two weeks, because this race report makes me want to do the Route 66 Full. Again. Even with the actual knowledge of the hills. I didn't get beer or Jello shots! I didn't get to see the Route 66 sign! {I did see the "free hug" girl, but sadly didn't hug her.}

I started training again for my next half, the first of Bling Quest 2013. Current word is the babysitter will be returning in time for the Hero-thon in San Antonio, and if he doesn't, we have a bunch of friends down there with whom I can abandon the Dude. Plus, BBQ! The Alamo! BBQ! The Riverwalk! BBQ!

{Also, can I say what a relief it is to finally get a semi-set end date? We heard everything between January-March...and the husband was once told before the holidays, which he wisely kept to himself. It will be much easier to get through the holidays with the end in sight.}

And speaking of the holidays... It's Runcember! And I'm totally breaking the first two rules of Runcember. Walk or run a mile every day in December. Come on, you know you can do it. My training plan has me running seven sprints on Christmas Day - surely the rest of y'all can manage one measly mile. ;)

WiP/FMC - More Other Stuff

Another week of "other" sewing, and the stress of it all sent my poor machine to the repair shop. Luckily I finished almost everything first, and spending a couple days with my secondary machine has confirmed my decision not to bring my secondary machine this summer!

Dresses {McCall's 5613}, top {McCall's 6022}, shirts {applique} and shorts {McCall's 6022}

A ribbon blankie divided

I cut hotel kits every day this week - thank goodness! I'm down to one kit {the mason jars} to be finalized before we leave. And it feels so, so good to have these all settled and waiting for me.

Non-Quilt-Along
 Finished my husband's offensive t-shirt quilt. And...if you want to vote for it, the nomination form is here, and mine is #338. ;)

Sunday Stash Report - Week 15

I won a Sewline marking pencil at a LQS. So I had to pick it up...and...
The panel is Coffee Cat Cafe. It has a black cat on it. Of course I needed it.
I actually have some plans for my coffee fabric stash - I love Kate's coffee cups, so I'm going to shamelessly steal them for a table runner. I just threw away my seriously gross floor mat, so I'm going to use some of the panels for that. Soon.
And the Pez... I will be kitting it for the summer to make these Funky Wrenches. It looks so great in brights, and I don't have very many brights. So... I needed them.
I also picked up four quarter yard cuts at my other LQS for my Saturday Sampler. And the backing for one of my baby quilts.
Which is in the quilting process, so I'm counting the top out. Catnapping is apparently part of the process.
I also made two OSU ribbon blankies this week, and three burp rags.
And, while I was cutting a kit from a giveaway win, I discovered they were fat eighths, not fat quarters. Which works perfectly fine for the quilt, but I'm not going to let twice the fabric linger in my report! ;)

Christmas Sewing - Burp Rags & Ribbon Blankie

I got all my Christmas sewing done on time, believe it or not! Well, unless you count the unmade Rudolph quilt for my son. There's always next year.
 My older sister went to UVa. Her husband went to William & Mary. She thinks these are too nice to allow my nephew to spit up on. He thinks my nephew should puke on them.
Two have the strips of fabric running down the middle, one has the fabric across the bottom.
My nephew also got a UVa ribbon blankie, with blue flannel on the back. I'm not usually a pre-washer, but I think the flannel should have been.
