Sunday Stash Report - Week 1

We're supposed to start fresh in the new year, but I feel a little guilty not counting the last week of 2011...mainly because I got...
...this and...
...this. Twenty-five fat quarters and two panels. Yay!

And I bought a little charm pack of black & white fabrics with a Christmas gift card, to supplement my Skorca!

So 2011 ends...

Sunday Stash Report - Week 52

Whew - I didn't get fabric for Christmas!
I got gift cards...and anything purchased this coming week doesn't count because I start at zero in the new year - right?

I finished Rudolph and the Grinch, but I still need to take pictures. They went straight from the dryer into wrapping paper.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Sunday Stash Report - Week 49

I am still suffering from a bad cold, but the squadron holiday party is over so maybe now I can recover. I celebrated by finishing the Advent Calendar!
The borders were on for the first day of Advent, and I got it quilted and bound yesterday and this morning. And yeah, I love it. The pockets are the perfect size - Rolos most days, Christmas movies on Saturdays (well, a note to check the DVD player), and Lego mini-figures on Tuesdays.
And the Dude made this! Okay, not completely by himself - he traced, a teacher cut, he sewed, a teacher guided on the curves. And when his teacher was Mom, she tried not to correct his mistakes....too much!
{That's the finished Saturday Sampler behind him.}

On the ins, I won this giveaway at A Quilter's Table. Not only is it a beautiful set of fat quarters - but next year, I'm going to make a Star Wars quilt in solids, so I see some Darth Vader, R2D2 and the Emperor in that pile.
And then there's this! I helped out with the Dude's sewing class yesterday, and my payment was the scraps. Woo!

Sunday Stash Report - Week 43

A little bit of fabric this week - I needed another 1/4 yard of the fall leaves to finish the argyle quilt. Actually, I needed another 4", but 1/4 yard is the minimum cut!
I took my mother-in-law to my LQS for its 10th anniversary party, and we each won a door prize - she got the Bali Pop jelly roll (with which I'll be making a quilt for her), and I won two charm packs of Meet the Gang from Andover.
I still didn't get the binding on the Halloween Hexagons, since I've been working on outside projects with my in-laws. They leave tomorrow, so I'll get back in the sewing room soon.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 41

I was not so good this week...
Some was necessary - I bought 3.33 yards for the backing of Halloween Hexagons, which I'm quilting this week. I decided on black Kona because I can use the leftovers for the Steelers Quilt binding.
I'm doing the Argyle Quilt Along and used 1.5 yards from stash...but I needed another half yard of focus fabric and over 2 yards of solid. One step forward, one step back.
I also picked up a half yard of the background fabric for the Fat Quarter Stars quilt along.
And that would be all of the "necessary" shopping... Then there was the Central Park Sudoku kit on Stitch Steals. And since I was already paying for shipping...I got a half yard of Sweet Divinity - I have some of the fat quarters.

I didn't finish anything...I really need to get some quilting done to knock off some backings.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 39

Ooh, report's going down today!
 I got Mom's Tennessee Waltz back from Paula and got the binding on it.

And then I finished sewing together the Sunkissed Jewel Box rows. It's 48" square and I don't think I'm going to put borders on it.

And in saving-my-stash-report-by-not-buying... I still haven't decided on a back for the Halloween Hexagons. I tried a minkee back, but the stitches totally disappeared, and I really want them to stand out. So there's black flannel, or Kona, or...has anyone ever used poly-satin? I think it would be too slippery, but it comes in 60" so I wouldn't have to piece it.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 38

I got a massive pile of fabric this week, but I'm not counting it. My sister paid for it and it's all going back to her...as a finished quilt...eventually.
6.5 yards each of the Windham Wedgwood Delft, and 2.5 yards of Kona White, for a king size Hunter's Star. That would just make too big of a dent in my stash, so since it's not MY stash fabric, it's not counting. But it's awfully pretty to look at.

In my own fabrics, I had a mostly-stash finish this week.
I used six fat quarters from stash, bought two more, and used up the rest of the Steelers gold. I already started piecing the back, and bought glow-in-the-dark thread to quilt it.

 I also bought a half yard for Mom's Tennessee Waltz's binding. The wonderful Paula already finished quilting it, so it'll get it bound this week.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 37

 Which blew through some fabric.
Which I then un-blew-through when I bought 4.5 yards for the back. I just don't have a lot of backing fabrics on hand - or enough of the right-ish colors or theme to piece.
However, I handed the quilt off to my quilter yesterday, so the backing will be back off the report in a couple weeks (instead of waiting months for me to get around to quilting it.)

Sunday Stash Report - Week 36

I finally got the last border on the Steelers Quilt! Although I counted most of the top out when I finished that, so I just get to count the last border.
I also mailed off four giveaway fat quarters. Enhancing someone else's stash report!
My LQS gives you 15% off for your birthday, so I picked up...almost nothing. I guess that's what happens when your birthday is so close to Fat Quarter Frenzy. I grabbed two yards of my favorite neutral, a half yard of the neutral in my Tennessee Waltz quilt, the panel for my Saturday Sampler, and the next sampler block. The panel says Mother, Daughter, Sister and Grandmother - it'll be pieced into the backing.

Check out how everyone else is doing on Patchwork Times! Judy's challenging us to set a higher goal in the last four months of the year. I'd like to get into the black, so that means busting a little more than half of what I've busted in eight months. (Assuming no new purchases...)

In addition, my husband and I started a pay-per-mile running program. Run a mile, get a dollar - his for computer games, mine for fabric. Luckily, we made the deal on Wednesday, the day after I picked up my neutrals. So now I really have to earn each yard...or work from my stash.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 35

In:
1.5 yards of the yellow tone-on-tone on the right. I'm making this quilt from Moda Bakeshop, but just from the two Sunkissed charm packs I already had. It should make a nice size baby quilt, and it's super fast to put together.
Nothing out, but hopefully by the end of the week, this will be done and out.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 34

Ahhh, finally a good report.
I bought a half yard of Kate Spain's new Christmas line, which matches well enough with her old Christmas line to border the Christmas Stars.
I bought it at Quilt Beginnings in Columbus, Ohio, while waiting for my husband's flight. Cute shop - good selection. And a toy box to entertain the Dude.

I finished Charming Wildflowers and iSpy Sliced Coin Quilt before I left for Ohio, so they could be gifted to my husband's grandmother and nephew, respectively. So the backings and bindings checked off a couple yards each.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 31

I had a couple more Joann's coupons to use up, so...
Three more yards of the DS Quilts - I decided, in Denyse Schmidt-fashion, to finally make a log cabin. But in non-DS-fashion, I'm making it traditional.
I also grabbed 2/3rds of a yard of the orange/black from the remnants - it's a good Halloween filler, or OSU filler.
My other fun purchases were a new set of colored pencils for $0.50 at Target (love back-to-school sales!), the Sew-It Kit and small graph paper book from a Border's clearance sale, and the Bag Making Bible, which I've wanted for a long time. I made my first bag based on a u-handbag tutorial - love her stuff!

I also have some finishes! I forgot to count the basics class sampler last week, and I decided not to put borders on the Christmas Kaleidoscope, so the top is done on that. It's basted and ready to quilt this week.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 30

Yesterday was Fat Quarter Frenzy at my LQS.
So, so damaging to my stash report.
I did try to keep to a list of things I needed. Ha - needed. Right.
15 Charlevoix - for Moose on the Porch's next quilt along
12 Grand Finale - um, because I like it
10 batiks - for St. Paul's Cross - I'm going to take a paper piecing class in September
12 Civil War - for Barbara Brackman's quilt along
3 pinks for the backs of doll quilts I'm making for neighbors who are moving
2 bats for the Dude, who called to make sure I was going to buy him something - I bought some glow-in-the-dark stars last year that will match for a quick Halloween quilt
3 beige Dimples - my ever present neutral
2 Army prints - since I have Navy, Marines and Air Force
Total? 59 fat quarters. For $99.94 - look, I kept it under $100!

Oh, and then there's this.
I had a bunch of 40% off Joann's coupons, so I succumbed. And I got a third of a yard of Cars fabric.

No finishes, since I didn't get the borders on the Christmas Kaleidoscope. At least next week the numbers will start going back down...

I finished this:
and this:
Well... They're finished to the point of applique or embroidery.

I had to buy 1/4 yard of Kona bone to finish the table runner, but that's it. The table runner kit has been in my possession since we lived in Washington...and we moved in late 2008.

IN: 2 yards of bone Kona for the Kaleidoscope quilt along and my next Saturday Sampler block.

OUT: a set of tonsils and adenoids. So that should help finish up a bunch of projects, since the poor little Dude isn't going to be doing anything but chilling on the couch for the next week.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 27

I skipped a week of posting to take pictures of these...

{Tower Fall ~ Old Faithful ~ bison}
{Hellroaring Creek Trail ~ Lower Falls from Artist Point ~ Fountain Paint Pots}
{Teton Village ~ Grand Tetons ~ Jenny Lake}

But I didn't skip a week of shopping!
I stopped at Stitch 'N Time in Jackson Hole. Lovely little shop. There was another lady there shopping for a Round Robin border, and we all hovered around it for a few minutes deciding which batik to use. Made me wish I had time for a guild.

I found the Paddington Bear fabric in the clearance section, and nabbed the two Olivia fat quarters while I was looking at the food prints. (Mmm, peppermints.) I have an Olivia panel, so this will give me a little something to work with. Someday.
I got nothing done - obviously - but I'm catching up after being away from the sewing machine for 12 days.

Sunday Stash Report - Week 24

Shop Hop Weekend!
Honestly, the damage wasn't that bad.
This is my purchased pile - Route 66 for the Dude's Cars quilt, camo dinosaurs because they were REALLY soft, a bit of coffee fabric and a panel for the kitchen stuff I'm never going to make, a yard of Merry & Bright to go with my Kaleidoscope quilt, backing for my Layer Cake Quilt Along, borders for the Steeler's quilt (woo!), a half yard of a random red floral, and two Sunkissed charm packs.
And the freebies! A bag full of buttons, a wallet, a couple fat quarters, quilting needles (needed those, yay!) and some patterns. The bags in the middle are the Shop Hop blocks in Charlevoix - each of the eight shops designed a block.

The Dude had to come with me because his dad is flying this weekend. He did...mostly okay. At the seventh shop, he talked to my mother on the cell phone and loudly declared to the entire shop that "Mom was going to TOO MANY quilt stores." Everyone cracked up.

And I didn't finish anything - busy with VBS in the mornings, errands and cleaning in the afternoons, and balancing time with the Dude to sewing Railroad Crossing blocks. They're almost done - after weeding the garden I should get them finished today!

Sunday Stash Report - Week 23

Oh, it's been a good week.
I bought...nothing.
 I finished iSpy Sliced Coins. {The wind is causing those wrinkles.}
I finished my Hunter's Star. {And you have to wait till Tuesday for pictures. It's awesome, though. Take my word for it. It's worth all those bias edges.}
I mailed the giveaway fat quarters to AMKreations.
I made a therapy arm band for my husband's cousin.

Oh yes, I will be rewarding myself during the Road to Oklahoma Shop Hop this weekend...of course, the real trick will be getting the Dude through nine stores without buying any minkee.
